So I’ve been seriously considering switching from traditional (HD cable) to a streaming video service like Hulu. Check it out! This thing is great. I know we are all looking to save money these days with the state of the economy. You can watch all (actually, most) of your favorite shows online without the high price of a cable bill. I spent a good part of my day yesterday exploring this… Here are my findings.

It’s great, but it’s not ready for prime time yet! Maybe if you’re an adult with no kids, you could pull it off. All of your favorite TV shows are likely on there (and some of your old favourites).

Here are my current limitations:

1. No kids/toddler shows – We NEED PBS, Disney Channel and Noggin to get through our mornings around here.

2. Flash 9 – My PlayStation 3 doesn’t support Flash 9 yet, so the site doesn’t work as smoothly as it should (I’m trying to play on my main TV).

3. Soap Operas and Daytime TV: I need my soap operas, Dr. Phil, The View, etc. before you can jump.

4. Premium Channel Shows: Like Dexter on Showtime, etc.

The company has only been around for a little over a year and has a HUGE amount of content. It’s just a matter of time, and I think this is the way of the future. I hope you hurry so I can save $100 a month on my cable bill!

Does anyone know of any competitive services? Is anyone else moving in this direction?
