If you love an espresso with a twist, you’ll love this Thai coffee recipe. And, if you own a super automatic espresso machine, you can make this hot drink quickly and easily.

Now my coffee recipes are not an exact science. Just as some people prefer their coffee plain and others prefer their coffee with lots of heavy whipping cream; We won’t be specific with the amount of ingredients, we’ll let you adjust the ingredients to your liking.

These flexible recipes will give you the chance to experiment and have fun with new ingredients. This is what you will need for this recipe:

  • Freshly roasted coffee beans, a citrus variety like Celebes blend, are good for Thai coffee.
  • An espresso machine. An Automatic, Semi-Automatic or other Espresso Machine.
  • Heated large clear glass cappuccino or coffee cups, or a large to-go coffee cup.
  • Sweetened condensed milk dispensed in a plastic bottle
  • Half n Half or Milk (whole, 2% or skim)
  • Vanilla syrup or coconut syrup or both
  • Coconut milk

Dispense your sweetened condensed milk from the can into a plastic spray bottle. The purpose is to make dispensing easier, more controlled and helps you decorate the glass coffee cup. Also, the container can be easily refrigerated. Once cooled, sweetened condensed milk becomes slimy and slow to dispense. The squeeze bottle makes it easy to dispense cold, thick condensed milk.

OK, let’s make Thai espresso

1. Start by heating your large clear glass coffee mug

2. Squeeze the desired amount of sweetened condensed milk onto the inside walls of the clear glass coffee mug. Also, dispense some into the bottom of the cup. (The creamy white milk will contrast with the espresso blend making a stunning display.)

3. Now it’s time to make your espresso. If you’re lucky enough to have a super-automatic espresso machine, just touch a button and within seconds you’ll be dispensing your espresso directly into the cup decorated with condensed milk.

If you’re using a semi-automatic or other espresso machine, you’ll want to have the beans ground, tamped, and ready to go before you begin the recipe.

4. Dispense the desired amount of Espresso Coffee. I use a double shot of espresso and a 6 oz. regular coffee. I use a Super Automatic, but you can do the same combination using any Espresso Maker available.

5. Add desired amount of Half n Half or milk, your preference. The fatter it is, the richer your Thai coffee will be.

6. Add vanilla coffee syrup or coconut coffee syrup. This will add a sweeter flavor. You can use sugar-free syrup if you like.

Another variant, following the Thai tradition, is the use of coconut milk.

When I first worked with this creation I used decaf coffee beans so I could try a few cups and varieties without overdoing the caffeine.

Experiment with this recipe and let me know what you think is the perfect mix.

If you like specialty coffee drinks like this, you can make this coffee in a fraction of the time using an automatic espresso machine. These machines are great for entertaining and convenient for everyday coffee and espresso pleasure at home, on the go or in the office.
