Meditation is a better way to understand the self and gain an awareness of who and what you really are. From this place of infinite intelligence and knowledge, everything is created and everything is possible. Through meditation you can train your brain and direct your brain waves.

Normally we are so caught up in our daily lives, so involved in doing, doing, doing, that the frenetic activity of our brains often drowns out the finer signals and precludes any hope that we will grasp the information that is most crucial to helping us achieve our goals. goals.

Meditation is what gives you control of your brain waves. Meditation trains your brain so that you can focus and deliver the message of your new goals and vision, and be better attuned to receive the answers, tools, and resources you need to fulfill that vision. Meditation accomplishes this by developing your ability to modulate and regulate the different frequencies of brain wave emission.

The four common levels of brain waves can be compared to the four gears in a car, with beta being first, alpha second, theta third, and delta fourth. Most of us operate in the beta range all day. Can you imagine driving that sports car in first gear for hours at a time, with the pedal to the metal? Of course not. However, that is essentially what most of us are doing to ourselves. We are burning our systems. It’s no wonder so many of us are falling victim to stress-related illnesses. And it is not surprising that the practice of meditation has such a significant beneficial impact on those same diseases.

Let’s take a look at some of the different brain waves and how meditation can affect those brain waves.

Beta
These are the fastest and shortest common brain waves and are not conducive to deep learning or impression. This is our normal, everyday waking state. Some scientists include gamma waves in this category. Gamma waves, according to some researchers, are emitted when we are making neural connections. Research on Tibetan meditators found that they emitted a flood of gamma waves.

Alpha
These brain waves are associated with relaxation, deep breathing, relaxed concentration, light trances, increased serotonin production, sleepiness before sleep or upon awakening, higher intuitive factors, meditation, and the beginning of access. to the non-conscious mind. Access to the quantum field begins with alpha brain waves.

theta
These brain waves are associated with dreams and REM sleep. They are also associated with the production of catecholamines vital to learning and memory, increased creativity and the ability to harness universal intelligence, integrative emotional experiences, potential changes in behavior, and increased retention of learned material. High levels of access to the quantum field are available through beta brain waves.

Delta
These are very long, slow brain waves associated with dreamless sleep and the release of human growth hormone (HGH). Trained monks can access this level of the quantum field in an awakened state.

It’s not that the beta is bad, there’s a lot of power in first gear. That’s the gear you use when you start out; It has the power to move the car from stationary to motion. And first gear is ideal for dangerous conditions like slippery ice. But drive like that all day? You’re going to fry your gears.

Similarly, there is a lot of power in the beta range of brain waves. You are excellent at absorbing new information, at concentrating on certain tasks you have never done before. It is what you are using to read these words. But just like first gear, it won’t get you very far. Once you’ve got the car started, you’ve worked out the initial information, you’ll want to shift back into second gear.

When you start doing this, something fascinating happens. When you shift your car into second gear, the wheels start to spin faster and your car travels faster, but your engine slows down. How is that possible? It’s in a different gear. The same is even more true in third and fourth gear. Less engine effort. Less fuel, less wear. Less stress. Less heart disease, less stroke, less irritability, less frustration and anger, less depression and anxiety, and you’ll be more accomplished.

That is also a description of your life when you regularly recondition and train your brain with meditation.
