Myrtle Weinstein was a childhood friend of Boobala Darling when they both lived on Myrtle Avenue in Brooklyn. Myrtle married Henry Rosenberg. Boobala was Maid of Honor to her, and then Boobala married Harry Darling. Myrtle and Boobala kept in touch, even though they had been apart throughout their lives, at least until Henry died in a tragic car accident. Regardless of the fact that Boobala was enduring her own unhappiness with Harry, she immediately went to comfort her dear friend Myrtle from her. From that day on, the bond of friendship was rekindled, until Boobala faced her own tragedy regarding Harry. No matter what, they still kept in touch with each other.

Hello, hello Myrtle,
You better hang on to your belt.
I have good news for you
I just received a telegram
With that being said, I have won a cruise.
I can’t believe it myrtle
]It’s like a dream come true
Oh what am I to do?

now i’m really worried
Because I have nothing new to use
I need a bra to get up
And a sash that will keep me covered,
Some fancy clothes and jewelry to wear,
They will be little holes, toys there.
I’ll have to act like I’m cocky
To do all this, you need some money.

Oh I’m going on a cruise
What the hell do I care if I lose,
Some money from my bank,
Gasoline is useless in the tank!
Money that I’ve just been saving
For a rainy day, or something that strikes my fancy
It’s an offer I can’t refuse.
That’s why I’m going on a cruise.

Oh, I’m so excited, Myrtle,
Could you take care of my turtle?
And don’t forget to pick up my mail too?
If the landlord needs the rent,
I’ll leave you a postdated check.
I can’t believe it Myrtle, could this cruise really be true?
I know it will be tremendously fun
Will my prince charming be there too?

Oh to feel your touch and dance away
To lose myself inside her eyes,
Will it make me sigh and sway,
Will it make me throw up and cry?
To hear your words, so dear to my ears,
Instead of getting old, in years I will be young
Oh Boobala, stop dreaming and wake up.
Time to go shopping to spend those dollars.

Oh I’m going on a cruise
What the hell do I care if I lose,
Some money from my bank,
Gasoline is useless in the tank!
Money that I’ve just been saving
For a rainy day, or something that strikes my fancy
It’s an offer I can’t refuse.
That’s why I’m going on a cruise.

My dear friend, Myrtle,
My life has been nothing but obstacles.
What would I have done without you?
We have been friends for so long.
First your Henry, then my Harry,
It was hard times we went through
I will miss you so much Myrtle
I wish you could go with me on this cruise.

Hey, there’s still time to book a ticket.
Please say you won’t refuse.
Bring fancy clothes and jewelry to wear,
You know hoytie toys there!
We will flirt outrageously with every available man,
Russing the feathers of their mother chickens.
Forget it Boobala, because I’m not going.
Look, your suitcases are packed to overflowing

You’re the one who won this free cruise,
I don’t want to accompany me, have fun.
Keep your money in the bank
The money you’ve been saving
For that rainy day, or for
Something you are wishing for.
It’s an offer I must decline.
Because it is you who deserves this cruise
