Connection between your open eyes and your range of mechanical golf swing movement skills. How to use the state of your eyes to develop a fluid swing.

  • The more open the eyes are, the greater the feeling of stress in the shoulders and the muscular tension in the body, which creates internal muscular resistance in the swing.
  • Do a physical test: Start with your eyes open, take a few breaths, and move your fingers to see how they feel in range of motion and how hard it is to move them. It is not a fast range to form a sensation. As you open your eyes, you will notice a tension in your shoulders that you can call stress.
  • The example of eye placement can be seen in the dancer’s eyes. They are soft, you can tell that they are ajar and they project tranquility.
  • If you want fluidity and range of motion in your swing mechanics, then you have to have calm eyes.

How this applies to golf:

Your golf swing should have a fluid tempo and a low range of muscle tension.

  • In preparing for a driver swing, close your eyes to allow time to feel your preparation and let your mind adjust the feel to build swing power. In setup, by closing your eyes, the mind can choose the forces to shape your body based on the sensations reaching the brain, and the mind chooses what to adjust based on the ideas and practices the swing mechanics for that club. .
  • Having your eyes closed allows you to soften your jaw muscles (pterygoid muscles), which reduces the stress of the effects of gunshots on faces and allows you to keep your shoulders down. (One of the root causes of all directional errors is the shoulders rolling up.) You can keep your eyes closed and hit the ball if your swing mechanics for each club are very refined.
  • Try to have your eyes half closed and make sure you can still see the ball. Keep your eyes on this position throughout your swing. Do this while practicing swinging with a ball. This exercise is creating a new sensation.
  • Just before you make contact with the ball, your eyes will widen and your body will tense. You can and should try this effect with your eyes barely open and wide open. (This has never been talked about).

Using your eyes to release tension:

  • There are two eye positions that you can use during meditation exercises.
    • One is to have your eyes closed and the other is to have your eyes open at different levels. The hardest thing in meditation is that your eyes are open enough to see ANYTHING clearly. Only soft eyelids make soft faces relate to jaw softening.
    • Your eyes are open and closed, both positions narrow your mind’s focus between your internal and external noise.
    • When your eyes are blurry open, you can’t focus directly, that’s the goal so you can be in your core breath directing the moving energy in your body.
  • My suggestions:
  • It would start with half-closed eyes and a slack jaw (pterygoid muscles). Rock with your eyes half open (so you don’t squeeze). Once again, if her eyes widen, she can feel her shoulders tighten.
  • When your eyes are wide open your shoulders lose their range of rotation-motion. Having your eyes open tenses your entire face and directs energy to your face instead of your swing mechanics.
  • When your eyes are half closed, you can focus on the mechanics of your swing.
  • When your eyes are ¾ open, you are going back and forth between the mechanics of your swing and what your mental attitude generator is processing.
  • Your goal is to cool down your abstract mental attitude-generating thoughts and transition to your learned swing mechanics.
  • These exercises train your mind to capture all your sensations.
  • You can have a negative or positive attitude. A negative attitude is always an abstract thought or idea and is based on fear from outside of oneself. A positive attitude is more focused on the physical connection with what you are doing in the ear and you are now in the Zone state with your body in swing motion.

Try this

  • The bigger your eyes are, the more your mind is focused which affects the state of the body and emotions on purpose.
  • The following exercise tests your clarity:
    • He half opens his eyes and sees a chair. She moves her fingers, they will move easily.
    • Next, open your eyes ¾ and look at the same chair. Try to move your fingers; it will be a bit harder and the range will be a bit lower than when he had his eyes half open.
    • Finally, open your eyes wide and look at the same chair. She tries to move her fingers; it becomes impossible for her fingers to move.
    • This test shows the link between the eyes and range of motion. The goal is to have calm eyes, jawline, and calm faces.
    • You can’t soften your shoulders. Calm eyes retain the energy of your body.
    • To calm your eyes, inhale through your nose, then exhale while blowing your lips as if playing a trumpet. Allow your eyelids to drop to create a blurry vision during your exhalation. The exhalation for the best effect is created from the movement of the navel. As you exhale, pull your navel toward your spine and down to your tailbone. You have to have soft shoulders to get the longest exhalation.
    • This will allow your shoulders to soften and your whole body to soften. Use your exhale through your lips to lower your eyes, then pause as you feel empty. Then open your eyes halfway. This is the state you want to be in to shape your golf.

    conclusion

  • If your goal is to have better swing mechanics, I suggest conditioning your mental attitude generator to use your energy more efficiently. This is not simple to accomplish, but it is simple in concept.
  • You do this by using your inner forces to engage certain muscle groups and noticing your sensations of energy. Here is the RULE. The more you feel, the less you think or have abstract thoughts. The more you think or the attitude generator is processing endless ideas, the less you will feel your body swinging, so the less enjoyment you will have.
  • Your goal in practicing swing mechanics is to have a high feel and low abstract thoughts to work towards creating a Zone state in your golf swing. The way you shape your eyes and pterygoid muscles is key.
  • When a person is calm their eyes are not fully open. This is because it will make your shoulders looser initially. As soon as you have an intention, your mental attitude generator kicks in and then your eyes widen. This action tenses the face and jaw, which in effect tenses the shoulders and the entire body.
  • A calm swing is a good swing. Relaxing will allow you to have a wider range of motion and feel more as you form and swing mechanics. It also allows you to have stronger feet, hands, and head.
  • You must recondition your mind and increase the physical sensations in your mind, so that the mind forgets the old swing mechanics and the goal is always to have a swing zone state. This is a repeatable effect.
  • Being able to project the proper starting point for your eyes will change your entire physical feel for your swing mechanics. The initial position of your eyes affects your jaw, shoulders, body, feet, hands, face, and mind.
  • Having a complete understanding of how you can shape your eyes triggers positive swing mechanics.

The mechanics of the swing and the core generator with the attitude generator and the movement of energy during a Zona swing can be seen in Ben Hogan’s book, the Five Lesson in the Two drawing. Understanding those two drawings in information of what he did with his swing mechanics is not part of the Book. One has to realize his own internal forces for his oscillation of the state of the Oscillation Mechanics Zone. Zone is swing without abstract thought therefore it has high sensations.

To help understand those two drawings, I created a YouTube series detailing small development points for the Zone state swing mechanics with each club. Ben Hogan gave me the right ideas and the best swing mechanics to build his own swing.
