#4 – Washington Redskins – Russell Okung – Oklahoma State

Who should the Redskins pick, an LT to start the foundation of a franchise O-Line or QB? Jimmy Clausen isn’t worthy of the No. 4 pick in this draft, but who will play quarterback for this team if he doesn’t get drafted? I see the Redskins will be patient with this pick and take Okung if Bradford is gone.

If St. Louis trades for Vick or McNabb, expect Bradford to fall to the Redskins, who would be ecstatic. If the Redskins have another highly rated quarterback, they can wait and hope he becomes available in round 2 or 3 (Colt McCoy or Dan LeFevour?).

For now, this team needs a better offensive line to help get Portis and newly acquired Larry Johnson into the second tier of defense. The Redskins also just drafted Willie Parker, so they have three big-name RBs, but no offensive line to run behind. This team needs better O-Line talent and a franchise quarterback, and the team must pick in the first round by taking Bradford if he’s available or taking the best offensive lineman in the draft if Bradford isn’t. Bradford will be out, so he expects Russel Okung to be the pick. The Redkins tied for fourth in the league and allowed 46 sacks. They have to limit that number before they worry about drafting a QB. Okung may be the LT of the future and begin to solidify the line. Okung is also the best value here because it doesn’t make sense for the Redskins to pay money to top 5 safety when they have no one for the future at QB and LT positions.

The only new players the Redskins have acquired in free agency so far are Maake Kemoeatu, Larry Johnson, Rex Grossman and Artis Hicks. Maake was brought in to play the NT in their new 3-4 defense so Albert Haynesworth could move into a DE position. It’s going to be another interesting year for the Redskins as they try to find their QB franchise.
