Bucharest is a city that has a long history of political unrest and high crime rates, and bullet holes scattered throughout the city are not uncommon. Don’t let this put you off though, as the people in Bucharest can be very friendly and there is plenty to do while you are here. The gay venues you’ll be looking for are available, but they often come in quieter ways than in many other big cities, simply due to Bucharest’s political nature. This doesn’t mean you won’t be able to locate them, however, you simply need to know where to look.

Some establishments are well known throughout the city, despite the country’s social conservatism. If you like quirky good times with a bit of hedonism, you can visit The Office, one of the most legendary gay bars in Bucharest. The nightlife here is great with great music and a friendly crowd, and if you like things a little wild, The Office is where you want to be.

However, if you are looking for something a little more intimate, you can try the Green Hours 22 Club Jazz Cafe, one of the quieter but trendy bars. This trendy bar requires reservations as it is packed every night, but the live music and enthusiastic arts scene will definitely appeal to your artistic sensibilities.

When traveling to Bucharest, don’t be put off by the city’s socially conservative nature. There are plenty of gay places to visit to make sure you have a fabulous time here.
