If ever there was a political fight, worth fighting for, by those who want to preserve many of those freedoms, we have become used to it, it is the one that is coming, of which we will witness, between President Donald Trump and his supporters. . , versus, many moderates, and most liberals / progressives, for the appointment of the Supreme Court Justice, to replace the late Ruth Bader Ginsburg! It may be, an under-declaration, that this battle is more than mere politics, but rather the fight for America’s soul and vision! Do we wish, to remain, a nation of principles, believing, All men are created equal, and preserving all rights, freedoms and justice for all, we affirm, we are in favor, or we want, the primary vision, to favor the richest and most powerful, instead of everyone? Judge Ginsburg’s life was a testament to these rights and freedoms, and if the apparent preference of Trump supporters is choice, to succeed her, we can see what Trump’s slogan, Make America Great Again, can represent, in reality, and it means, that it is regressing, in many of the achievements, of the last decades, in terms of civil rights, human rights, environmental protection, awareness / action on climate change and, leading towards, equal protection of the law . etc. With that in mind, this article will attempt, consider, examine, review and discuss how we can better honor RBG’s legacy / life and, rather than simply mourn the loss, seriously considering the ramifications of going – the other way around.

1. His proud legacy: When she was appointed as a Judge by President Bill Clinton in 1993, her advocacy for women, minorities, and equal justice was well known. Your consistent protection of all of our rights, rather than just selective, may be your most important legacy! During her 27-year tenure, she consistently championed, all of that is correct, about the American Dream, and supposedly, the fundamental principles!

two. The threat to women’s rights: Many think of Roe vs. WadeWhen they think about women’s rights, but other issues, such as equal pay, equal work, etc., are still fundamental, for which to continue fighting. Although, better than before, we continue to witness that women receive about a quarter less, for comparable jobs, as men do. We must remain vigilant to protect these ideals!

3. LGBT Rights: Although LGBT rights have begun to be addressed, in recent years it has experienced a setback, in large part, because, this President, has articulated a perspective, opposed to this incidence! The late Justice was a champion, for these, as well as many other subjects!

Four. Civil Rights / Human Rights: When the man who occupies the highest office, in our land, seems to articulate a polarizing message, and degrades specific groups of immigrants, etc., and ethnic groups and races, what does that do, to the supposed constitutional guarantees, to our nation, have you been proud? Without their defense and demand, for the best for all, what will come to the soul of this nation?

5. Constitutional guarantees: While some seem to wrap themselves up in the Constitution, when it serves their purpose, and downplay it, in other cases (such as demanding their Second Amendment Rights, while restricting First Amendment Rights, which might be at odds with your personal preferences), RBG stood firm and represented, the best we could be!

The United States, and our world, will miss the defense, the wisdom, and consequently the pursuit of freedom, the protection of rights, the protection of the late Ruth Bader Ginsburg. Wake up, America, and, behold, SCOTUS is supposed to be an independent arbiter and defender of all of our laws, rights and freedom, and justice for all!
