Roger Dyson, President of BTHA, commented: “In a difficult retail climate, it is great to see toy retailers who care about their customers and ensure that toy shopping remains a memorable experience.”

The Toy Retailer Association represents 60% of UK toy retailers. Before Christmas 2008, stocks were running low for Vtech’s Fur Real my lovin ‘pup and kidizoom camera, so it’s perhaps not a huge surprise that they won these prestigious awards.

This past Christmas, once again, popular toys that had been ordered before October ran out of stock, and as a result, websites such as eBay saw that certain toys were priced much higher than their normal retail value, as the Parents clamored to get their son’s most wanted toy in time for Christmas. The moral here is to shop before the Christmas rush. If you know what you plan to buy, do not think that these toys will lose value, as they probably will not and you will end up paying a much higher price. The only winners are eBay sellers who thought ahead, saw the key toys, bought them, and were able to sell them for a very high price before Christmas.
