Feng shui cures or enhancers are used to suppress bad chi or encourage good chi to visit. At Flying Star School, items need to be moved yearly and monthly to accommodate the necessary changes appropriately. Annual problems should always be addressed first, and then ‘little tai chi’ is used to fix monthly woes.

One thing that is rarely addressed with articles is that of chipped or broken items. First of all, it is considered bad chi to store any item that is damaged. The standard example involves clothing: if your clothing has holes in it and the zippers no longer work, you’d get rid of them. The same principle applies to damaged feng shui items. The most important are those cures that are protective.

For things like the 5-element pagoda, the ringing bell, crystals, and statues of celestial deities, a chip or broken limb is believed to be an indication that you have been protected by that object. In essence, he has ‘took a hit for you’ and saved you from some catastrophe. While those who don’t understand this may scoff, those of us who have suffered immensely from being hit by bad chi from unlucky stars make sure we are adequately protected. As stated in previous articles on this topic, “I didn’t even know things like Flying Stars existed, but they got me anyway.”

Some Flying Star Feng Shui practitioners have had some really weird things happen with those protective cures (see some of my previous articles on the subject for my stories). People who can sense the subtle energies can immediately tell when the energy has changed for the better. Something as simple as hanging a wind chime on the axis of an unlucky star can light up the area and make it comfortable. Also to replace a broken or repaired cure; the energy changes immediately and simply feel best.

Even if one does not practice feng shui yet, certain pieces of protective jewelry could have taken a hit for the wearer. This is especially noticeable with new age glass items. Once you’ve worn a protective crystal carving and exploded into dust while wearing it, you’ll understand. Since items that have belonged to others may still contain your energy, it’s also a good idea to clean everything before using it. The salt can be rubbed on the item or “smeared” with steaming sage leaves, or it can be placed in a container of salt in the sunlight for several days, or it can be placed in a candle flame, or any other traditional means of cleaning.

For feng shui practitioners, all cures and enhancers are cleared each year before being placed in their new directions. Some need to be replaced; certainly some damaged. Broken objects should be treated with respect, not simply thrown in the trash. They can be buried, burned or thrown into the sea after the owner gives thanks for having been protected from some cowardly event. In any case, old or new, the new year calls for new energy, so it’s nice to be able to have enough heals to let some rest in the storage area while the new ones take on the next year.
